Life

The Martyr Anna at Rome is an early Christian martyr venerated in the Eastern Orthodox Church on July 5. No surviving account of her life has been preserved: the Orthodox calendar tradition records her only as a martyr associated with Rome, and the synaxarion gives no biographical detail.

She is commemorated on July 5 together with a number of unrelated saints of the day, among them Venerable Athanasius of Mount Athos. Because no era, family, or circumstances of her martyrdom have come down, she remains known to the Church chiefly by name and by her connection to Rome.
